Another Josh Brag!

I received this letter in the mail yesterday!

January 14, 2012

To the Parents of Joshua Burger:

It gives me great pleasure to tell you that Joshua will soon receive an invitation to attend a 2012 People to People Leadership Summit.

Your child was nominated by educator Cara Sommers of Rocky Mountain Middle School who believes Joshua meets the participation requirements for scholastic merit, leadership potential, and exemplary citizenship.

And as a nominee, Joshua's overall aptitude for academic achievement, ability to take initiative and make decisions that can effect positive change, and continued growth and progress within his grade level are all factors that may have been taken into consideration.

For more information, look for Joshua's formal invitation arriving soon.

Investing in Joshua's ability to succeed in a globalized society begins with developing his leadership skills, and the Leadership Summit offers a rare opportunity for him to join highly motivated and accomplished students from all over the world. I look forward to welcoming Joshua into the program.

Sincerely,
Natasha Porter
Director of Admissions, People to People Leadership Ambassador Programs

I looked it up online this morning, and the Summit is going to be held at Tulane University in New Orleans LA. If it is something we have to pay for he probably won't be able to attend, but I think it is awesome that he was even nominated.

On another note he just started taking band this year, so for the first part of the school year he was in beginning band, but he has done so well that his band teacher has moved him up to intermediate band. (she is also the teacher that nominated him for this Leadership summit)

Today was the big day!

This Morning was Rocky Mountain Middle Schools Geography Bee.

I believe that Josh took 6th place!

Wouldn't you know that the camera batteries would go dead when I got there, and the spare ones were charged so long ago that they were dead too, so I didn't get any pictures!

Good Job Josh, we are so proud of you!

A small brag!

Just wanted to share this letter that I got in the mail yesterday!

January 6, 2012

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Burger

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Josh in becoming one of our finalists in our school wide National Geographic Bee. It is a wonderful accomplishment and you should be very proud of him. Josh earned a spot in our final competition by beating out 150 other students. The National Geographic Bee questions are rigorous and Josh did a terrific job thinking them through and giving correct answers.

The National Geographic Bee offers some great prizes for the winners. The winner of the school Bee will take a qualifying test to advance to the state level. The winner of the state Bee will win $100 and paid trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the national competition. The winner will win a $25,00o scholarship.

The competition will be this Friday morning.
I have been calling him the walking encyclopedia for a long time, he is full of all kinds of information that most of us probably wouldn't know off the top of our heads,I guess sometimes it really pays to be the walking encyclopedia!
