The Tale of the Popcorn Seed

So I decided to make popcorn as an snack today, which isn't uncommon at our house. Well Jena decided that today would be a good day to stick a popped popcorn seed up her nose, NICE! I didn't see her do it I just heard her say "OW" and then she shows me the seed up her nose. I was in a panic because I didn't know how I was going to get it out ! First I call my mom, no answer, next I decide to call the pediatrician's office, the tell me they are suprised that it is stuck in her nose, usually it goes all the way up and down the throat, no such luck, they tell me it will either work it's way out or it will get mucus build up all around it and will start stinking and then I will have to bring her in an have it removed. The nurse suggested that I bring her in an and have them remove it. Well I didn't want to pay the $40 copay so I tell the nurse I will keep working on getting it out and if I can't get it I will call back and get her in. Next I get on an Internet board that I belong to and ask them for suggestion, I then get on Facebook and ask all my friends for suggestions, and I call Joe at work and ask him what to do. He suggested using a bulb syringe, of course we don't have one anymore, because you use them for babies not three year old's, so I hop in the car and run to Walmart to buy one, while on my way my mom calls back and she has the same suggestion as Joe. My sister sends me a text and tells me to get her to sneeze. I buy the bulb syringe and come home and try it, I can't get it out, well my friends on the Internet saved the day! I had one suggest plug the other nostril and have her blow really hard, she can't figure out how to do that, so that didn't work, but another friend suggested to plug the nostril and blow in her mouth until it comes out, that was the trick that worked. I had to wait for Joe to get home to do it though because I couldn't get the girl to hold still, but her dad saved the day and blew the seed clean out of her nose! Way to go Dad! Hopefully she learned her lesson and won't stick anything else up her nose EVER!
